Can Kate Moss convince Cheryl Cole to launch a Topshop range?

Tongues are wagging over the prospect of a Cheryl Cole Topshop range. The X Factor judge is reportedly being considered by the retailer for her own line next year. According to News of the World, the 25-year-old has been discussing the idea with Kate Moss, who has become a regular to the X Factor set (above, right). The supermodel is now said to be negotiating with Sir Philip Green on Cole's behalf. Perhaps that's why the pair of them were looking so chipper recently?

"Cheryl and Kate instantly hit it off. They were both gushing about each other all night," a source revealed. "When Cheryl said she wanted to get into high street fashion, Kate got very, very animated. It's very likely to happen next year."

With a lucrative spot on the X Factor panel, Cole's star is definitely on the rise right now. She is also due to appear on the January '09 cover of British Vogue, a real coup for any celebrity, despite rumours that she stormed off the shoot because of a run-in with stylist, Bay Garnett.

"Together they could make an amazingly diverse range," the source addded.
Yeah, yeah we've heard all this before, whispers of stars doing high street collections, and never following through. So why do I get the feeling that this one might actually have some truth to it? Perhaps because Cheryl is one hot ticket right now. I turn the mic over to you...

Time to speak up! What do you honestly think of this idea? Would Cheryl make a good Topshop celeb designer? Let us know.

Topshop 'Headless' tees

For lovers of anything cutesy and/or Disney, these 'Headless' tees are actually a lot more cheerful to look at than they sound. Choose from either Minnie Mouse or Olive Oyl (or both, if you think Santa will be particularly generous), and then sit back, relax and wait for them to be delivered to your Christmas tree or stocking. They're £16 each from Topshop. (I'll take the Olive Oyl one thanks Santa!)

Celia Birtwell for Topshop

Upmarket designer and 1960s favourite Celia Birtwell has created a third collection for high street retailer TopShop. The range consists of 5 extremely limited edition luxurious silk chiffon dresses alongside a more accessible main line of dresses, underwear and accessories, all bearing Birtwell’s signature print designs.
Prices for the main line start at £35, however the exclusive chiffon dresses will be going for between £120 - £150, incredibly cheap when you consider the price of a Birtwell original.

However, only 250 of each of the 5 exclusive designs will be created, again raising the question of snobbery on the high street. Designer collaborations with high street stores such as this one aim to bring designer looks to a wider audience; for the sake of inferior fabrics and workmanship, designer dresses can be made accessible to the regular middle income girl. However, with stores placing this strict limit on numbers, the elitist nature of the designer goods remain, creating a paradox over the whole venture.

Inspired by the romantic silhouettes created by Ossie Clark, Birtwell’s former husband, expect a soft, 70s feel with floor sweeping skirts, ditsy floral prints, frothy chiffon and winding ruffles, creating summery styles loaded with femininity. A high luxe approach gives the range a superior feel.

The main line launched this week; the limited edition dresses will go on sale from September 9.

A Topshop dress, Hilary Duff style

Earlier this month we showed you how to get Hilary Duff’s NBC Today show concert look with a Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress. Well we’ve spotted one that is sort of similar on sale at Topshop. This black pleated dress with circle appliqué detail at the neck is quite reminiscent of Hilary’s dress, only with a round neckline and minus a belt. It’s a little more flower-child, but outfits are never as fun when they are 100% identical to pieces you’ve coveted on the catwalk or in the pages of a high fashion magazine. Get a similar look to Hilary's by adding gold hoop earrings and bangles, vamp up the eye make up a little and you'll be ready to dance the night away too.

Topshop told to take out dress 'copied' from Chloé

Last week CQ reported on Diane Von Furstenberg's legal battle with high street retailer Topshop and it seems she's not the only one getting annoyed. More than 1000 £35 copies of the £185 Chloe dungaree dress have been removed from Topshop stores across the country and they have been forced to pay £12,000 compensation and legal costs to Chloé.Chloé are keen to emphasise their determination in the battle against counterfeit items, implying that they will be applying a zero-tolerance policy to the high street.

Sir Philip Green told The Times, "We paid them £12,000 without any admission over whether it was or it wasn't [a copy]. We felt it was easier to do that and get on with the rest of our lives." The issues of fakes continues to cause an increasing problem throughout the fashion world.

Kate Moss fashion range nets Topshop £3m in a week

The Kate Moss fashion range at Topshop generated sales of around £3 million in its first week, it emerged today.

That figure exceeded the chain's target by "quite a long way", a spokeswoman said.

Thousands of shoppers queued outside Topshop's flagship London store for the April 30 launch.

The 33-year-old supermodel was paid a reported £3 million to create the collection.

Her fashion range launched in New York last week and in Stockholm earlier this week.

Describing the £3 million sales generated in the first week in the UK, a Topshop spokeswoman said: "We are really surprised and excited that it was so successful because we have never done any collaboration like this before."

New items in the Kate Moss collection went on sale last week, the chain said.

Publicity generated by media coverage of the UK launch was worth an additional £2 million to £3 million to Topshop, according to a report in industry magazine Retail Week.

Sir Philip Green, boss of Arcadia Group which includes Topshop, now aims to launch the fashion chain in the US.

Kate Moss charges Americans double for her Topshop clothes collection!

English supermodel and fashion designer Kate Moss has left her American fans disappointed by selling them her much wanted Top Shop clothes at double the price she's offering her fellow countrymen.

The customers at Barneys store in New York were angry when they saw that the garments were tagged at very high prices.

The American prices are reportedly as high as 100 dollars.

However, Top Shop spokeswomen has justified it claiming that the transport charges compel the company to raise the price, but this has surprised people more as most of the garments are made overseas in India, China and Mauritius.

"It is slightly more expensive in the US because it is being shipped from the UK but it is amazingly good value for Barneys, who determine the pricing," the spokeswomen said.

Moss has been getting mixed reviews for her new clothesline, but there has been frenzy among fans to grab the clothes designed by the style icon.

According to store's creative director Simon Doonan, the high prices have not stopped the customers from grabbing Moss' clothes.

"This is a level of competitive shopping that even New Yorkers have not encountered before," Daily Mail quoted Doonan, as saying.

Customers wore "as little as possible to be able to try on loads of things really quickly and get in and out of the dressing room and back on the floor to snatch things before another girl does," he added.

Doherty's ex to model for Kate Moss' Topshop collection

Supermodel Kate Moss will have her beau Pete Doherty’s ex-girlfriend Irina Lazareanu to model for her line of clothes for Topshop.

The dark haired Lazareanu will wear Moss’ new range that is based on the 32-year-old’s own collection.

The waifish model met Lazareanu, who was the drummer with Doherty’s band Babyshambles, on a tour and they became good friends.

Moss teamed up with Lazareanu and stylist pal Katy England to design the new range.
The English-born said that after going through her own wardrobe, she decided to launch her own creation by altering her designs.

“I just went through my closet basically. I was just like: 'I'd love this, but altered like this', or 'I'd love that, but in a pinstripe'.” Mirror quoted Moss, as saying.

Moss also said that she used to shop bag full of clothes at Croydon, for five pounds.

“I used to do jumble sales in Croydon and get bags full of clothes - like bin liners for a fiver,” she added.
