Katie Holmes in a new look at 59th annual Bambi Awards

Katie Holmes impressed in a new hair do walking the red carpet with husband Tom Cruise at the 59th annual Bambi Awards ceremony in Duesseldorf, Germany, on Thursday, November 29.

Both Katie and Tom were dressed in black to complement each other. Katie impressed in a floor length tight fitting strapless black gown with gold palettes cap sleeve bolero jacket and a dramatic new bob hair cut with a fringe.

Tom stood out in a double breasted black tuxedo suite with a black tie.

Commending Tom's effort the jury for the competition said in a statement:

"Tom Cruise is making an international public familiar with a story that has never before been the theme of a major Hollywood production: the German resistance against the Third Reich."

In the film Tom plays good Nazi Colonel, Claus von Stauffenberg, a German hero, who unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler with a briefcase bomb on July 20, 1944.
Tom overcame stiff resistance to his film from the German Defense Ministry which was reluctant to allow filming for Valkyrie at the "Bendlerblock" complex in Berlin where the conspirators were executed.

The Ministry later relented following an assurance from Tom that the film will show Stauffenberg in good light.

The Bambi is presented by German publishing giant the Hubert Burda Media Group. It honors achievement in film, television and music as well as sports, fashion and social engagement.
