There is no denying that Jennifer Hawkins knows how to work it in a bikini, and the face - and body - of Myer yesterday parted with a few words of wisdom to those getting ready to sizzle in a sexy two-piece.
Just make sure you've got a tan and feel confident in it," she said. It was a totally confident Hawkins who took to the catwalk to show off Myer's fashion cred in a high energy summer launch last night.
The store has been quick to pick up some of fashion's rising stars, including Josh Goot and Yeojin Bae. It was well and truly a family affair for Hawkins, with not only her parents and siblings in the front row, but boyfriend Jake Wall walking the catwalk for Myer menswear label Blaq.
Apart from the bikini, Hawkins said the other must-have item was a dress in varying shapes and lengths. "It's the dress this season, full stop," she said. From fun and funky fitted pieces by Josh Goot through to an elegant orchid coloured sequin "couture" catwalk piece by Jayson Brunsdon - the dress reigned as a hot summer look.
It's goodbye baby doll, with Myer designers showing that fitted, figure-hugging minis are now the way to go. Short lace shifts by Sydney label Camilla and Marc were winners, with designer Camilla Freeman-Topper noting they were a versatile choice.
"The dress can be worn in the day with flats or at night with a heel," she said. While Hawkins certainly held the limelight, Myer said their simple and stylish show, on a bold white catwalk, was all about showing off the clothes. "We wanted to show the key looks and trends of our 30 designers in a very simple way," Myer fashion head Judy Coomber said.
While the line-up was billed as an all-Australian affair, internationally renowned New Zealand designer Karen Walker also got a look-in. Her colourful clothes highlighted another big trend for this summer - brilliant brights.
