Carrie Underwood will be taking part in "Fashion Rocks," a celebrity-packed event that celebrates the relationship between fashion and music. Carrie will join Jennifer Lopez, Avril Lavigne, Usher, Fergie, Ludacris, Alicia Keys and fellow "American Idol" alum and Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson. The "Fashion Rocks" two-hour concert will air on CBS September 7.
She's also up for Best New Artist at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards for her video "Before He Cheats." She'll compete against Amy Winehouse, Gym Class Heroes, Lily Allen and the trio of Peter Bjorn and John. The VMAs take place in Las Vegas September 9 and will air live on MTV from the Palms Casino Resort. Carrie is the only country artist to be nominated for a Video Music Award.
And finally, according to Nielsen BDS, the company that tracks radio airplay, Carrie's new single, "So Small" has reached No. 20 on the Billboard country airplay chart, making it the highest-debuting single by a solo country female artist in its history. "So Small" will be included on Carrie's as-yet-untitled highly anticipated sophomore release October 23.
